Paw Power 2014 is an initiative by a group of animal lover motorcyclists to raise funds for animal sterilisation. With public assistance and support we hope to make this an annual event, with new beneficiaries selected each year. The committee selected Lucky Lucy Foundation and PETS both in Cape Town for the inaugural run. Both work closely with communities educating children and adults on animal care. With various programmes they also run workshops to help empower the people of the community.
Paw Power 2014 will start in Johannesburg on the 5th of March and return to Johannesburg on the 17th of March. Major centres we will be travelling through include Bloemfontein, East London, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Springbok, Upington and Kimberley with events planned on our arrival. Please keep an eye on your local newspapers for more information. Our aim is to raise R 150 000 which would assist in sterilising in excess of 500 dogs, and hopefully significantly start to reduce the overpopulation of shelters with unwanted animals. Excess funds will be used for veterinary care and the purchase of dog food. Every participant will be financing their own trip to ensure that all donations go to the selected beneficiaries.
For control and transparency the committee will be using a FNB controlled account. It is vital to use the reference PAW should a deposit wish to be made.
